Door lock cylinder code

Do the 84-87 Chevy/GMC trucks have a 4 digit code on the door lock cylinder to use for new keys?
Thanks

Re: Door lock cylinder code

I don't believe so. The 4 digit code still needs to be translated to a cut number sequence in any case.
New locks are not expensive. You get locks that are crisp and clean operating instead of clapped out.

New locks come with cut keys. Ground keys supposedly wear the wafers faster than original cut keys.

Just under $20 for AC Delco D571A door lock pair. It's a pair of cut keys with fresh new door lock cylinders mated to them.
Just under $30 for an AC Delco D1403B ignition cylinder and cut keys. It's a pair of cut keys and a mated ignition cylinder for the 73-87 CK trucks.

You can build up a glovebox lock from a $30 Strattec 593051 glovebox lock kit to match your new door keys.

The lock cylinders assemble in a similar fashion to the door and spare tire locks in my GMT800.

Re: Door lock cylinder code

The code stamped on the door lock housing went away on about the 1973 model.

Re: Door lock cylinder code

Thanks everyone. I'll just replace them.
My ignition switch is new. Came with the truck as it was being started with a screwdriver.
