But when I got back to the body shop, I sold it for $ 150 . . . only because I knew then that I wanted my Dads old IH more ! (the IH meant a lot more too me) ; however . . . If one only knew how - much those old AD's would be worth now - - - I should have kelpt both trucks. Your "Kechi" build was very fun too read through . . . "Thanks for the Memories" jim |

Re: Project: Kechi AD S10 4.3 auto
I am actually almost done with it, should be ready to go home sunday. 54 1/2 ton, 85 s10, no motor, no wiring, no glass. just doing body bumpers running boards pedals and column. I finished the pedals, cab, and front clip, doing running boards and bed tomorrow then blowing it all apart for finish welding.
I have pics, I will share.

Re: Project: Kechi AD S10 4.3 auto
well delay on nicks 54. I sold Kechi, nice guy drove it, said I want this and this and this, and we shook hands. made a deposit so I could still use it in christmas photos today, picking up friday. nice guy. he ordered the dakota digital gauges and I will install them. here was the last drive
I REALLY liked this one. it drove so easy and almost fell together, maybe I am just hitting my stride? but the low buck aspect of it was addictive and really satisfying. I did have to change the lower rad hose, I put it on without the serp belt and when I put on the serp belt it was close, well when it warmed up it cut the hose slightly. hubris. had to take the fan belt and wiggle my girth in that cramped engine bay to change it. nicks 54 is almost done, I copied the running board mounts other guys have done so I didnt ruin his frame by chopping off the mounts like I usually do. I also cut hole in the firewall so the steering column could come out uncut. why am I doing someone elses truck? two reasons. I need money for spray foam insulation in the new shop, thats the only way I can use it is if its warm and comfortable. second, our city council relaxed home shop rules, now I can work on things that are not mine as long as I dont clog my parking area with them. so I will add nicks pictures as a postscript here when I am done. in the meantime, say goodbye to another!

Re: Project: Kechi AD S10 4.3 auto
I am doing a 47 next with those yellow parts I got in nebraska, so it will be black patina cab and hood and bed, with yellow fenders, thinking of calling it Bickle. gigamanx was talking about his airride and I got to digging around and found almost everything to bag an s10, front cups and an ART air bar rear. I have the 20" foose for it too, ordered all the glass for it today. no donor yet, thinking of finding an s10 with a V8 swap already done.
I also have one of those "dont count your chickens till they hatch" things going on, that I am pretty excited about. maybe next week I will know more.

I also totally "agree with oldman3" ; as I'm very new here and trying too learn . . . . . . . . why not learn from one-of-the-best & fast too ! The "Kechi" was using just what 'works' - kinda re-cycling - parts. But, on a safe level. (similar to my swap with my IH on to the Chevy car Frame . . . I did just what you did ; Used the car wiring & fuse-block, the car steering column, brake pedal assy. , ect . . . back in the mid 70's). Then , used my IH for my daily driver for a very long time . . . . . . . just need too bring it back to life , with an S10 upgrade (kinda thinking or looking "Dodge Dakota . . may-be ? ) . I'm tuned-in for your next job, for sure - - - - - and, Thank You . jim Happy New Year , too you . |
