Park brake
Hi,
I have installed a Heidt front end and can not run the park brake in the original position on the frame. What have you used for parking brake controls? Has anyone used an electric setup? Thank you Ed |

Re: Park brake
I put a regular pedal type park brake that fastens to the left kick panel in my 48 years ago when I changed things over. I put it up out of the way a bit and used the release lever that came with it. running the cables was a lot more work and effort than installing the pedal assembly.
If you run a floor shift you could install a park brake lever that mounts on the floor, and lays down next to the shifter. They are usually in bucket seat cars but wouldn't look too out of place sitting on the floor next to the shift handle. Actually there are lots of options if you look around a bit. |

Re: Park brake
Not inexpensive but it saves trying to make a junk yard part work and it might go with the column nicely. http://www.lokar.com/product-pgs/eme...op-ebrake.html

Re: Park brake
I found that a 74 truck has the same bolt/stud spacing as the 59 hinge bolts. Here is a photo of the bracket mounted. The 74 cable goes thru the firewall to a bracket on the crossmember. From there you need to transition to the stock cable that goes thru the pulley to the rear hardware. If you need more detail, message me with an email address and I can send more photos on the install.

Re: Park brake
I'll buy anybody's extra 55-59 e-brake handles for $15 or less. Always afraid of the gears breaking down in these!

Can you show more detail on the install of the park brake here? And you used a 1974 pedal? Looks good for sure!
