Cab Help

Looking for a 69-72 cab. Got in to cutting out the cancer and found it in the upper mid door-roof section on both sides. Plus looking to swap 70' lt/rt fenders for some 67' fenders. They are stair and clean. So if there is somebody out there that might have one or even have some thoughts on how to save my cab, I'd preciate it.. Thanks

Re: Cab Help

I will let an admin dive deeper into where the funds that we pay for the ability to access For Sale posts is used.

I do know for sure that a website this size and complexity along with the huge level of "searchability" doesn't come cheap.

The small amount of money involved in a membership is a tiny price to pay to keep this valuable resource alive. IMHO....

Getting back to the original question. I'm not 100% sure what the "upper mid door-roof section" is, but it sounds a lot like the part that was bad on my truck. In my case, the section was in the door opening at the top, in the middle of the opening. Inside and out in a section a few inches wide, and the metal that the weather strip holds onto, were rusted and wobbly, very weak. The inner roof above the windshield was also rusted out. I took a new inner roof front section panel that I bought from GMC Pauls to a body shop, and the body guy replaced the inner roof front section and windshield, and he also fabricated and installed new section of metal that forms the top of the door opening. It is now solid and good to go. I thought the price of the repairs were quite reasonable. So, if you have that sort of thing going on, you may have a similar result.

If you want to do this yourself, I suggest use tape or a marker to make an outline of the section you want to replace and take pictures of it, and post a want-to-buy ad in the parts section of the forum. You will need to be a subscribing member to do that. There are folks here in the forum who have tons of parts, including parts of cabs and other odd truck parts, laying around. I have seen beautiful whole cabs listed for sale now and then. If there are none listed now, posting a want-to-buy-a-cab ad may help you find one. Regarding the fenders, post a want-to-buy ad for the fenders you want, and post a for-sale ad for your fenders. Then you will not have to find that rare person who wants to swap his 67 fenders for some later year fenders.
