O/T: Bought engine/tranny and need some advice.

I Posted this in General Discussion, but nobody has responded.


I recently purchased a 3.4 camaro engine and tranny from a supposedly reputable shop. This was supposed to be a complete pullout, but needless to say it looks as if it was a little peiced together. So far the alternator doesn't work (I removed it and had it checked at a local auto parts store), the A.C. compressor doesn't work, the shifter on the tranny is missing, the computer is not there (supposedly on its way), the slave cylinder is missing (again supposedly on it's way), the EGR is missing, and the harness is pretty hacked up with missing connectors and broken connectors. I am pretty disappointed to say the least. The company is telling me that they sold me the engine, harness, and computer and tranny only and that everything else was left on as a courtesy and they will not warranty th alternator etc, and won't find the EGR (154.00). That was not told to me when I bought the engine/tranny drop in. I even explained that the engine would be used for a conversion swap in an MG. Come to find out now, the company won't warranty the engine at all, even though the swap has not been done and it is sitting on the floor in my garage (just as delivered). The engine and tranny supposedly have 53k miles on them (I asked for documentation and recieved nothing), but when I pulled the intake manifold, an exhaust valve had huge (and I mean huge) chunks of carbon on it. I have been getting the run around and noone seems to really care, not even the 'manager' I said they can refund my money and come pick up the engine and I was told that since it was bought for a conversion that they had no returns at all policy. This was never told to me either.This has been an ongoing situation for a couple of weeks now. The 'manager' said she would listen to the conversation that was recorded on tape on the day of the sale, and would let me know something tomorrow. I told her I had called back later to tell the salesman about the missing parts and he said he would take care of it, and if not he would see about a refund of some sort. The 'manager' said she wasn't concerned about later conversations, but only what was initially stated.

Sorry for the long post, but does anyone have any suggestions.
I could dispute the charge through the credit card company, but it seems like they might win, since all the paperwork shows is an engine and tranny sale.

Please any advice would be greatly appreciated.
