Re: Heater Blower Squirrel Cage

Looks like autozone has it, but it's not included with the motor itself.

They have three "blower motor wheel" which are not model specific.
P/N: 35446 $14.99, 35448 $12.99, 35218 $29.99
prices are for local autozone here in NJ, so prices may vary.

Also make sure you get the correct rotation, some are CW and some CCW apparently.

not sure if this link will work or not, if not please try searching for the part numbers above

just looked at them and I would recommend taking your blower motor and squirrel cage to compare

After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: Heater Blower Squirrel Cage

Can you make spacer to space it out for the extra depth? That's a popular upgrade to C3 Corvettes, to replacd with a c4 blower motor and cage, for much greater airflow. I had to fab a 3/4" spacer on mine to make it work. People have made them from everything from wood to plastic to aluminum.

This vendor is in Canada. I’ve purchased from them and was satisfied.

Suppose to go by advance auto tomorrow. They said they can order the motor and the cage. We will see what they have and I'll report back.

Re: Heater Blower Squirrel Cage

That squirrel cage is a pretty standard part. Try looking at older chevy car parts to see if they are the same size.

Your right sir I went back and checked they are the same for a 64 SS Impala as well. Same price also.
Knowing what to call it may help find it on other sites. The cage is called the blower motor wheel.
On PicClick search it pulls up 100's of them now with the right wording.

Re: Heater Blower Squirrel Cage

Ok I went to advance this morning and orderd the cage. I hope it fits one of my motors I have.

Here is what I learned today.

Stock 92 truck fan motor with cage will not fit a 67/72 truck heater box without doing some mods.
The cage I ordered from Advance is suppose to be 1" shorter than mine so it should work. We will see Wednesday when it gets here.

Wink Re: Heater Blower Squirrel Cage

Just checked on the LMC truck site. The cage & motor are the exact same for either one. AC /non AC!

Re: Heater Blower Squirrel Cage

The motor is different for an A/C truck because the A/C motor draws more current. The A/C motor is all that is commonly offered now. I believe some vendors used to list the motors separately, but the heater motors are rare. I would recommend using the higher 25 A fuse amperage and using the A/C fan relay for the high switch setting just like is done in an A/C truck if you will be using an A/C motor on a non-A/C truck. That will help prevent it from burning out your fan switch and the wiring to the fan switch. The factory A/C setup had some of the wiring and that relay that was supplementary to and beefier than the regular cab wiring.

Well I have like 6 old blower motors on hand and 2 cages. I hope one of the motors will work with this new cage.
I'm going to put a relay in line to help with the amp draw as well.

Re: Heater Blower Squirrel Cage

Ok I got the cage today and it fits either motor, heater /AC doesn't matter except for one thing. The way it's made it doesn't go all the way down on the motor like the original's do. It doesn't have the right depth inside to go over the motor shaft area. So over all it's the same size as the 92 truck AC motor with the bigger cage. It want work.

So I went with a 72 AC motor with the original cage on it and will have to plug the hole for cooling off I guess. I'll take the new cage back tomorrow and get my money back.

Andy, You could build a high volume blower wheel using your original base. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=769582

Re: Heater Blower Squirrel Cage

I ordered the blower motor & wheel last night from LMC. I sure hope it fits.

I will look at building another one though for the ramp truck once I get the 68 done.
