Just went through the same thing. Depends. Hot air or thermostatic spring? Does the intake have provision for mounting the choke? If you're using the spring type, some aftermarket intakes do have a mounting provision. On mine you could mount the later style that sits on the intake but not the earlier type that is recessed down in the crossover tube. Not sure what year the switch from inside to on top of the intake took place. My 72 uses the latter type but i had a 68 with a 327 that used the earlier recessed type. If your manifold has provision for the later style, and you don't have that style now you can switch to the later style and use on the earlier Qjet. The parts are available. Got mine at Quadrajet Parts. There are probably other sources.

Too many variables to determine otherwise..

2101
55-86, square bore, has a spot for the choke coil on the passenger's side, no EGR.

Re: Qjet/Edelbrock intake factory divorce choke set up??

I have the original Qjet sitting on a Performer aluminum intake. I removed the bimetallic choke off the original GM iron intake, it fits fine but I would suggest installing the electric choke conversion that’s available because the divorced choke never seems to warm up properly.
