help with fuel line / carb info
have a 68 C10 with a L6 250 single barrel Rochester carb with the fuel inlet on the front of the carb. The new pre-bent SS fuel lines I purchased have the inlet to the carb on the right side. I don't know if I have the wrong carb or if I purchased the wrong fuel line. Anyone on here have any suggestions?
You might ask why does it matter where the fuel line goes in? Well I have had this truck for 25 years and have only been working on it for about the last year and I want it to be as original as I can keep it but look as good as I can make it. I don't like the look of cut fuel lines with rubber hoses and clamps. Personal preference. Did the 68 inline6 250 come with more than one carb option? |

Re: help with fuel line / carb info
I'm not sure about the last part of your question. I sold my straight 6 several years ago, but I believe the fuel inlet was on the right side (engine side).

Re: help with fuel line / carb info
I could be wrong but I think your truck would have had a Rochester model B carb originally and it sounds like you have MV on there now. I don’t have pics but if you search you should find some on this site.

Re: help with fuel line / carb info
The carb on your engine should have a serial # stamped on it. Get that # and look it up. Then you will know what you have.

Re: help with fuel line / carb info
You could bend one yourself. I was able to do it with pre flared line from NAPA and a $10 China Freight tube bender.

Re: help with fuel line / carb info
The number on the carb is 7040021. I have not been able to find a site online where I can get the info I need to identify what make, model and years the carb was used. It could be that I don't know to search for the info correctly.

Re: help with fuel line / carb info
I can't believe I didn't see this when you first posted. I ordered every available fuel pump to carb line I could find for my 68 with a 250. Most of them are wrong. I think I got one that was like original, but I couldn't use it because I have upgraded to HEI. It has been a couple years and I don't remember where the 'good' one came from. When I get to work tomorrow I will see what I can find.

Re: help with fuel line / carb info
The correct carb number for a 1968 250 is 7028007 for 1969 is 7029007. I have had a saved search set up on ebay to email me anytime a 7028007 is listed and I think only 1 has come up in the past 3 years. I didn't buy it because it was junk.
I actually have these numbers in my saved search - (7028006, 7028007, 7028010, 7028011, 7028012, 7028013, 7029007, 7029011, 7029012) If it begins with 7028 is is 1968 and 7029 is 1969. If the carb you have runs good I wouldn't replace it. I have some 704 number carb on mine now even though I have bought a few 7029007 from ebay that need rebuilt. I rebuilt one and couldn't get it adjusted to run as good as the one I took off, so I went back. |
