How do i drop front end on my 71'

i have a 71' gmc longbed and i want to drop the front end a few inches. the problem i am having is that it is a 3/4 ton truck with heavy duty discs on the front . all i can find is dropped spindles for 1/2 tons that use eather 5 or 6 bolt disks. i want to keep the eight bolt disks so the front and back end match. can anyone help me with where to look for parts or what to do short of changing everything.
thanks for your time

Hi Ron,

I went and ordered a set of drop coils from a place that advertises in Truckin' magazine called justcoilsprings.com or something like that.

If you don't go too crazy you can use stock shocks and everything else will act fine. I went with 1" drop coils in front and 3" drop coils in rear. Both spring types were $69 a pair.

Sales guy was polite and knowlegeable. They also sell stuff like air suspension kits, shocks, sway bars and the like. Highly recommended.

I have a 1 Ton with 8 lugs, too. I took mine to a local spring shop and told them I wanted it lowered enough that the tires looked like they filled the wheelwell. They asked if it bottomed out the way it was and I told them NO. They cut the coils and reworked the leaf springs and I got what I wanted. The ride isn't any worse than stock. You will need new shocks when you do this as the old ones will be too tall.

I cut a 1/4th of a coil out of my 1/2 ton springs, took it down quite a bit. It did stiffen them out, but I doubt you could tell a difference on a 3/4 ton.
