Question drive shaft length for 700r4 swap????

stuck in driveshaft hell!!!

Anyone that has put a 700r4 into a 67-68 swb please give me some measurments on the driveshaft length I will need.

Also has anyone done a 1 peice shaft with a 700r4 swap?
Iwas thinking about getting a aluminum shaft from a newer chevy truck if it would work.

If your near NC I would love to come a see a swap that Im trying to get done.

This 350 tpi swap is going great but when you try to put a 700r4 into a truck that was a stick it makes a few problems

There's a guy here where I'm from that will make any driveshaft you want for $65. Yes, you should go with a one piece with a 700 and SWB.

If you are ever in greensboro, give me a call. I have my 700r4 in but I dont have my shaft cut yet. Be careful if you get a dimension from someone, there are a few things that can make a difference in these old trucks.

the odds of finding a drivesahft under some vehicle that wil work for you are very sliim, you iwll just have to put in the tranny and take measurement and go hunt around and hope or just have one made up somewhere, if you make it too short or too long then you wil either risk losing the shaft or having it up too far into the taiul of the tranny, has to be just right length,,,

700r4 are the same length as a long tail th350, same splines and yoke also,

And to SHEENANNY...
Do you have a number I can reach the person you speak of that makes driveshafts?

Measure your original bellhousing and trans together, tip to tip, now measure the 700R4, tip to tip at the same points and subtract the difference from the driveshaft. This will work fine unless you have changed engine position also. My 71 swb with a 350 in the six location and a 700R4 bolted up has a driveshaft length of 52" from center to center of u-joints.

I moved my engine forward a little and used the original driveshaft. That also gave me a little room behind the dist.
