79' 3/4 4x4 Cheyenne
So i've been working on my 78 1 ton crew cab the last few years, well long story short, i bought a parts truck for the th400/205, which i then turned around sold the parts truck to a gentleman that is restoring a 66 suburban and wanted the axles off the parts truck. Well, when i delivered the parts truck to the guy that is actually doing all the work for the other gentleman, he asked me if i was into square bodies, i said yes, but i'm not looking for another project. He asked me to just come look at this 79 yellow 3/4 ton 4 wheel drive, factory bucket seat truck sitting around the corner.....well, i feel in love, and the price was right. I bought this truck back in Aug and have been tinkering with it ever since. Needless to say the crew cab is still stuck in paint jail, only the cab left to paint, but i don't think i'm going to keep the crew cab.
The yellow truck is so original, factory radio, factory emissions crap is still on the engine, original exhaust still (which needs to be changed), even has the factory paint only thing missing is the original steel wheels and caps, but those will be added back so!!!! Many things were done before i got it, but here's what i've done so far: I replaced the grill with a 73 and head light bezels, replace the fuel solenoid switch, new dash, painted the door panels and added the wood grain, but the wood grain is coming out, don't like it! repainted and cleaned the center console, new carpet kit, replaced the steering wheel, gauge lens, cut and buffed the dang thing. Next up is seat covers, windshield, lift (4 Inches) steel wheels and caps. I'll post updates and things continue. Last edited by ddc456; 12-10-2019 at 12:37 PM. |

If you are going to do the windshield yourself, I picked up a new one, with built in antennae and mirror base for $110 delivered to LKQ.

Ahhh good to know. I was just going to have a local auto glass place install a new but they want $330. I’ve done one before in a 70 camaro, not to difficult.

Got the old school steels and hub caps on. Next is a new windshield and bucket seat covers.
