Thoughts on this hardtop

I seen this today and working on more info.I was told it's a factory top reworked,what are your thoughts on this? Sorry for the limited pictures but I can get more when I track the person down that did the work.

I agree with looking too modern also. Looks like he blended a pickup cap on top of the OE cap.

I like it, but it does make it more 'generic.' keeping the size and shape of the original would be good, just a different mount/install. The back should get a vinyl sticker or something to make it look closer to original.

A few more pictures I got today, my main thought is it the guy can accommodate a different hatch option and repairs one of my spare tops. Some modern touches with the original style of top could be interesting if done right, I'm just short on vision and design.

From the pictures it looks like the work was done well and I want to like it because I've had a similar idea in mind but I can't get over the roundness of the rear section. I see why he did it that way as it matches the glass he used but it just doesn't seem to flow with the truck.

If I were looking to have something similar done I'd want the lower rear corners of the top to completely cover the bedrail instead of rounding the corner. The rear hatch should be as wide as the tailgate so the body lines line up. And not sure what the plan would be for that big gap between the hatch and tailgate.

Probably would have been better off to leave the rear hatch alone and just did the side windows.

I'd like to see that done with original glass, in a pop-out style for ventilation. I could easily live with that hatch. LOVE THOSE HINGES.

Ok so here's the scoop, I went ahead and bought the blazer with the top and talked to the gentleman who did the work. I asked him if he would be interested in looking at some of my spare tops and see what we can do and he seemed interested but one can never know for sure. He told me that the tops are made of fiberglass and he has extensive experience in glass,can pretty much do anything I want but have yet to discuss prices. I'm going to ask if he can replace the side windows with something that opens and no exposed window gasket and rethink the rear hatch. I have some suburban stuff that may work into the design for the rear hatch,also have some tops that have sunroof and vents that could use repaired/redesigned.I'll keep you all posted on what turns out and it anyone wants any more pics for reference let me know,this is first reworked top I have seen and I want to like it but it isn't quite doing it for me,yet I don't think I could let it go,maybe the right 2wd could make it work.

Nicely done, but looks odd with the original trim on the windshield. It would need flush mount glass also to finish the package. As for me, not my thing! I like these trucks to look original.

I have a top from my 1972 Jimmy sitting in my yard. It needs to be restored (no cracks but some sagging and stains from being outside). I want to keep the hatch and lift arms and you are wanting to try to modernize one. Bring a few friends, remove the hatch for me and it is yours for free!

Thanks. I have one for my blazer now, with a hatch that I plan to fix. Been buying all the missing pieces from the board and eBay.

Would be nice if these were turn key.
