choke on stock engine???
how was the choke hooked up on out trucks? today after having the truck die i took the carb off and found the choke was not hooked up. i also cant tell where it was suppost to connect. the carb(q-jet) was not origional and had a threaded connector that went in to the choke. right now i am putting a holley on and it has a electric choke so what do i hook the + terminal on the choke to?

by the way i also have three wires on the pass side of the engine compartment one is the temp sending unit and the other 2 come in to a 2 flat prong connection. these wires go nowhere right now but would the 2 prong be the choke by chance

are those wires green? may be for the AC clutch coil. one came from the dash & the other goes to ground.
as for the choke wiring. find the empty male spade terminal in fuse block labeled "IGN" & run from there to red + lead on choke. black - goes to good ground like choke cover screw. make sure ground is less than 1 ohm between wire & batt or choke will be closed longer than needed. general rule of thumb is you have 0.2 ohms per connection. So when I hooked my choke wire directly to the coil, is that going to cause me problems?

the 2 wires i was refering to are black and blue and they come out of the same harness as the temp sending unit. i dont think it would have anything to do with the ac because the truck is a non/ac truck

There is a thermostatic spring under the tin cover that connects to the choke with a rod. (see pic) Then the newer ones had a tube from exhaust manifold to choke, then they used electric on the later ones. John

John, very nice engine compartment. Can you get a close up pic of the choke setup as it connects to the carb?
