Torque value upper front shock post.
Ok, let's hear some opinions on this one. I've thought I torqued the living crapola out of them, but they come loose sometimes. It's a 5/8 fine thread bolt, so what do you all think? .........z
PS. I just installed some Edelbrock IAS shocks in the front, and asked Edelbrock what the value should be. They came back with 80-90 for the post nut, and the SAME for the nut that holds the shock onto the post. I asked him if that wasn't a little low, and they come back with 'Torque it until you feel comfortable with it. Honestly that is the best way.' This from a 'tech'.............. .......z

im sure that torque setting should be fine as long as you use locktite on them they should never come loose. i wouldnt go over 135 lbs on a 5/8 bolt.

Yeah, spec for Grade 5 on a 5/8's fine thread is 155, and on a grade 8 it's 215. The Edelbrock 'tech' is supposed to get back to me.....was just wondering what everybody else was torquing or not (gut and tite..he he) as the case may be....lol....I torqued em to 140..about max for my torque wrench, but really didn't want them to come loose like before....the locktite is a good idea, except then they'd be on there pretty much permanent...lol.....Of course that's the idea, but some shocks have a different size post, so I better decide to stay with the IAS's if I go that route.........Thx......z
