Michigan just requires the plate to be the year of the vehicle

Montana had both Truck plates and car plates, I found a car plate and had it approved by the DMV and State Troopers. They do need to be from the exact year of mfg, in this case 1970. There was nothing said about truck or car, just had to verify that it was eligible for use. I was also able to license it as permanent.
