Rear End Swap

Looking to swap the old 6 lug rear in my 64, and convert to 5 lug.

What year rear end would be easiest, and best, for fitment of 18 or 20 inch wheels?

Re: Rear End Swap

You can buy axles to convert your existing rear to 5 lug.

Re: Rear End Swap

Yep that's the easiest way to do it. Buy 31 spline Moser Axles, Posi 3rd member etc.
I think I bought it all from these guys: https://www.quickperformance.com/GM-...-12T_c_54.html

Re: Rear End Swap

Keeping your original 12 bolt and converting it to 5 lug will give you more room for tire and wheel than changing to a '71+ differential which are wider.

Re: Rear End Swap

1971-1972 , C-10 Rear Axles will Directly Bolt up (Plug N play). Not only will you get 5x5 pattern also they Have the Bigger Drums (Finned)...
The Axles are Longer, if I Remember correctly 1 1/2 inch on each side.. I've had 24x9 Inch Rims and Yesterday I put Rallys with New Rubber on. 15x8 255/r60 Tires, No Problems..
If you can find one Get It.. My 2$.

'71 and up are 1 1/2" wider in total, 3/4" per side.

Re: Rear End Swap

As mentioned earlier, swapping axles would be an easy alternative. Yukon and Motive Gear also makes their versions of these available at Summit.
