72 C10 w/ AC Evap drain hole plug

Hey guys I'm working on my AC vents cables in control unit and putting in a new selector box.

Underneath evaporator there's a hole-in there's a piece of metal can somebody tell me how this is supposed to fit in there? And should I seal it or is this for leakage?

It’s like a trap door. Just muscle back up and leave as is.

I believe that it's to check the resistors above it to see if they are bad

Ok cool.

I did kinda figure it out and forced it back in. Maybe should have filed the edges a bit to derust it.

But it's back in. Thanks guys.

I always thought that trapdoor was to direct some A/C air to the floor if desired.

Interesting thought. May force it back out and clean it up a bit then. Make it easier to swing open.

Re: 72 C10 w/ AC Evap drain hole plug

It's funny because my 67 unit has 2 of them on the bottom I believe. I'll check on that when I get back to my truck. Nope just 1. Must be seeing things

Re: 72 C10 w/ AC Evap drain hole plug

I imagined it was a weep hole for a possible heater core leak
