Exclamation Need tanny help ASAP

Ok, so on my way home tonight my tranny locked into 4th gear. I have an sm465. I was comming up by a friends house and pushed the clutch in and reved it in 4th and let the clutch out and continued home, so when I pulled onto my street about a block away I couldn't shift out of 4th. The clutch still works, it just wont shift. Please tell me what is wrong. Thanks guys. Kevin

My guess would be that the syncronizer is worn and is jammed. Could be serious.

Shift rods in top of tranny are a little worn. Remove the shift lever and realign the rods by pushing them in their respective place with the end of a screw driver and reinstall shift lever. Should take 15 to 20 min your first time, 5 to 7 each time after that. Mine will occasionally stick in second, shift handle is in nuetral and won't shift to another gear until rods are aligned. Good Luck,

If you were a bit closer to Alberta, I'd give you one that has 23 000 miles on it for free, just needs a throwout bearing and shift arm...

Thanks guys, I'll see if I can realign the rods this afternoon when I get home from work. Stealth2002, if something is really seriously wrong, you might be hearing from me. Kevin

Thanks for all the help guys. I pulled the seat and tranny tube out this afternoon so i could get to the tranny. Well I pulled the bolts on the top cover and started to pull it off...but it wouldnt come off. And then it shifted again, I didn't do anything but whatever was outta whack it fixed itself. Thanks again though guys, this place rocks. Jostrans68, is the tranny a 2wd or 4wd?
