What about just modifying the column you have now?

Pull it apart, and remove the key/locking section. Otherwise you may lock up at a very annoying time.

Cut the key bump out of the column, and epoxy a piece of sheet metal behind it. Then fill the divet in with fiberglass bonds or JB weld. Sand, and paint.

Move key to dash, and enjoy.
