Re: Strange, LOUD noise after engine is turned off
Probably the starter hung. Next time you start it drive a few hundred feet and touch the starter. If its really warm the starter is toast. They will screech sometimes since the bearing isn't designed for cruise RPM. A side possibility is a worn ignition switch powering it in both state and run positions.
A throw out bearing can make a loud screech but can normally be heard above the engine. I can hear mine over 2 chamber mufflers when its acting up. |

If the outer ring of the damper had slipped it would not continue to spin well after shut down.

You don't have electric fans or electric water pump on it by any chance, couldn't see in the pic

Re: Strange, LOUD noise after engine is turned off
By reading your 1st post, you shut it off. noise started. you let the clutch out, engine not turning. still making noise. YOU STARTED IT UP AND BACKED OUT OF THE GARAGE. can't be the starter spinning or you would definately know when you started it up if the starter was already spinning.... could it be something crazy like built up pressure in the radiator blowing out the rad. cap making a strange noise, like when you blow through a blade of grass up to your mouth? everything else has been asked..please find the problem, it's killing me! lol....
