Color Question

I’m replacing the interior of my 1975 pickup. I’d like to know if anyone can tell me the color of my carpet and seat. There is no SPID in glovebox.

Also I was looking at carpet kits from USA1 Industries and there is one that says small hump and one that says large hump. Mine looks like the large but I wanted to make sure before I put the order in. Is one for auto and the other for standard?

The carpet was faded quite a bit. The browner looking carpet around the edges should be close to what it looked like new.

This will be my first time putting carpet in a car or truck. Thanks for any help.

Re: Color Question

Your a high hump. It’s manual and it’s bolted on, some of the tell tales. Small humps are automatic.
Now for your color, USA1 Industries is a good place to get interior parts for our trucks. They are the only place that has all of our colors, for our trucks. Their color chart is what I use. It’s going to be Saddle or Sand. But if it looks a bit darker, I would say Saddle. Also, if you call and talk to them, they might be able to give you a number to text or email your pics. They are very helpful.
Also, you haven’t said, but I’m guessing your truck is possibly a GMC? Your seat has the extra little bling by the hinge area. Those were usually only on the GMC’s. And I have only seen 2.

Re: Color Question

Thanks for the info. I may have misunderstood you about the manual and automatic. Mine is a column shift automatic with transfercase shifter on the floor.

I’m not sure if it’s a gmc or not. Everything says Chevrolet with a bowtie but I gues it could have been changed. There are emblems that day Silverado 20. I thought “20” identified 3/4 ton trucks and mine looks like a half ton. Am I able to find through the VIN? Thanks

Re: Color Question

Yes, by the first letter of the VIN:
C=Chev
T=GMC
1/2 ton will have 6 lug wheels and 4th digit of the VIN will be a 1
3/4 will have 8 lug wheels and 4th digit of the VIN will be a 2
I can't quite tell for sure how many lugs in your last pics.
Can you post a pic of your SPID and more of the truck?

Re: Color Question

Thanks for the help. No SPID. It’s a 1/2 ton according to the vin. 6 lug. Are those “20” emblems wrong for my truck then?

Re: Color Question

Are you sure that seat is original to your truck. I don’t ever remember seeing that design in a gm pickup.

It probably isn’t original to his truck, but it is a GMC seat.

Re: Color Question

Regarding the seat and those chrome garnish pieces, I saw this seat in a junkyard yesterday in a 1978 C10 Chevy Big10.

Re: Color Question

Man that seat frame makes me feel real good about mine. Im going to use my seat frame because it’s in perfect shape. My plan is to replace the bottom cushion and re-cover the whole thing with new upholstery. But is it possible that it’s the original seat?

Re: Color Question

TKCR says it is a gmc seat. I however have not ever seen that pattern on a squarebody. The square body’s I have seen had a square chrome medallion on the seat backs then in 78 or 79 they changed to a square button on the seat backs. As for the chrome on the sides that is another feature I’ve never encountered on a square body.

Re: Color Question

I was actually told by squarebody enthusiast about the seat. I have only come across about 3 of them. I have been trying to find the post, where it was discussed. But he said that was a GMC seat. They always did little upgrades that were different from the Chevy’s. The seat could have been swapped somewhere in the 40 years. I’m still looking for that thread, when I find it, I’ll will post it here.
