Re: Any of your KÂ’s getting stimulus love?
Thanks guys. Oh ya sheÂ’s definitely patient with me! And she helped me take out the 32 bolts from the roll cage.
I’m going to clean it and rattle can black or powdercoat it. A buddy of mine owns a powdercoat business and he’s got some cool colors so I may try and get it coated close to that interior color, which I think is “saddle” Inside the cab is a little rough. I’m not complaining at all. I’ve seen some out of state trucks that were super rough. It looks like my truck sat outside for a couple years and mice were hanging out inside while bees were hanging out in the bed. The carpet and padding was all chewed up and there were about fifty dead dried up bees in the bed with big chunks of bees wax stuck on the side of the bed. I’ve taken almost everything out of the cab except for the dash area. I’m going to see how clean I can get the instrument panel. The dash is cracked and will likely get replaced. The plastic kick panels are solid just a little faded and dried out. All the other trim pieces are really nice. The plan is to order all the pieces I need from USA1industries like maybe the kick panels, a bottom cushion for the seat and seat cover. The frame and back cushion is solid and I’ll probably reuse it. Although they’re not cheap, so if I happen to find one in the same color on offerup or craigslist, it might end up cheaper. My biggest thing is I don’t want any leftover mouse crap in the truck. There is some rust on the passenger side but both rockers look very clean and under the doors themselves is clean. Any suggestions on what to spray the floor pan with after I get all the rust off? It needs tires bad. I’d like to get some rally’s for that year or an old school mag wheel. Probably 33s. I have a 70 K5 with 33s and aluminum wheels that came with it. I’m debating swapping those to this 75 and going with different wheels on the K5. I’m beyond fortunate to have these options!! Sorry to ramble on. But the end goal is to clean up interior, leave exterior alone (I don’t mind scratches and dings on trucks) and get mechanical stuff working well (it runs ok but it needs brakes and the trans was slipping a bit when I drove it home) This is the most I’ve ever tried doing with a car or truck so I’m pretty new to replacing and fixing stuff. So it will be a learning experience for me. Also there’s no overtime at work right now so when that picks up I’ll be ordering parts here and there (she lets me use my overtime $ for cars Thanks guys |

Re: Any of your K’s getting stimulus love?
Sorry about those weird A’s in that post. I had another question. There is a line coming from the top of the rear end. I thought it was for filling with gear oil but someone told me that it was a vent. Hopefully you can see in the picture. My question is, did all trucks come with that line/hose?

Re: Any of your K’s getting stimulus love?
Here’s a couple from inside the cab. I know the passenger side looks rusty but I really don’t think there are any holes there. I’m going to attempt to get as much of tat off today as I can.

Re: Any of your K’s getting stimulus love?
Thanks! Do I need to strip all this paint even if it looks like I don’t see any major rust. The floor is another story. I’m talking about this area where the bottom of the door touches the cab. Rocker?

Re: Any of your K’s getting stimulus love?
Do I need to start another thread? Because I’m going to be posting more pictures with questions. Thanks
Example. This is how it is coming out so far. Is it cool to clean up like this as long as there are no holes? Or is there a point where the floor is too weak/compromised to leave it. I don’t know what the word is to describe it but there are a lot of “craters” gouged into the floor. Any help is appreciated. My plan is to keep going like this and check back on this bread once in awhile. Thanks guys -Vinnie. Let me know if I need to start this under a different area/thread |

I was wrong. There are a few holes. They are small but I was wondering what is the next step? Thanks

Re: Any of your K’s getting stimulus love?
Yea I would start a new thread so you can get some more specific attention. As for my opinion on your truck, if you’ve got the ability and or money, I’d replace the toe boards with patches. Sure you could just fill the pin holes you see in the floor and get by for now but if your this far in and you intend to keep it, I’d patch it up and be done for a long time. The rear raised section of the floor doesn’t look to bad to me. Paint type will likely invoke quite a few opinions. I’m a fan of chassis saver for frames and the interior and exterior of the floor. It’s durable and adheres to rusty surfaces pretty well. The metal doesn’t have to be perfectly clean you just have to knock the loose stuff off.

Re: Any of your K’s getting stimulus love?
You should start a build thread over here in the 4x4 section so we can keep up with your progress.

Haven’t gotten ours yet but when I do I’ll use it to pay off some C.C debt getting the truck to this point.

Re: Any of your K’s getting stimulus love?
That looks really good! That’s such a nice truck you’ve got there!
I recently put the precision door/window seals and weather strip in mine, quite a nice kit they’ve got and I really love the press on door seals. I’m eyeing some more stuff for the K20 But haven’t jumped on it yet. What else have you guys been doing to your trucks lately?

Re: Any of your K’s getting stimulus love?
I'm going to swap my rear Eaton 52 to a Dana 60. The Dana came out of C20. I dropped it off to have spring perches and shock mounts moved...
