1971 Blazer "Feathered" info

Hi all

I just purchased a 71' Blazer & have been doing some research. It has the feathered decals on it and I was wondering if there is anyway to find out the rarity of it, how many were made with that package. If anyone here could point me in the right direction I would appreciate it.

Thanks!
Chris

Feathered?

Sounds like it was in New Mexico sometime in the early 80's.
Please post pictures.

I'm pretty sure that the "Mod Bods" were only a 72 year option. So if yours has it, it may have been an add on after 72?

Re: 1972 Blazer "Feathered" info

Sorry bout that, It is a 72' Got it confused with the other I also have... Says Feathered by Chevy. I did some research and I see Chevy did a number of decal packages on their products. I was just wondering how many actually rolled off the production line with the Feathered by Chevy decals. Its ruff looking but pretty unmolested & runs like a top, for $800.00 I know I got a deal. I will take some pictures and post in a little while.

Re: 1971 Blazer "Feathered" info

There were not many of the Feathers trucks and even fewer survivors in reasonable condition. Many of the decal packages were removed since it's almost impossible to find replacements. I've never seen any hard numbers. Who knows if Chevy even kept track. Also not sure if they rolled off the assembly line like that or were installed at the dealer. I've never seen the "Flame", "1776" or the "Sandman" before. I've seen pictures of an "Eagle" blazer once.

There are a couple of board members who have/had a feathers rig. Do a search for "feathers" in the blazer forum.

Let us know what you find and be sure to post those pictures.

Re: 1971 Blazer "Feathered" info

I was at the Portland Swap meet this weekend in Portland, OR and was looking at a sweet 71. Then I turned around and there it was... A feathered 72. In rough shape and priced at $5,500...

That looks pretty nice. Don't know about 5500.00 nice but still nice. Mine is a lot ruffer than that one. This is a 1 owner & came with all the orginal documentation, runs like a top and was only 800.00. The body is in better shape than some I have seen. The only bad rust is in the rocker panels. All the other rust is just surface. We have the topper & orginal seats for whatever reason they owner took them off and put them in another blazer they had. I just have not picked them up yet. The one thing that is weird about it is the passanger side does not have any trace of the decals on it. Almost like they were never there.

Re: 1971 Blazer "Feathered" info

Those are fun, cool find. I don't think they came from the factory, I think it was dealer add on, hence Chevy probably never had good numbers.

Funny, mine has the same package with the feathers, except the glove box label. Mine actually says "Sportbird by Chevy" but the graphics are all the same. I don't know what the difference might be.

The first picture shows the truck as the SPORT BIRD and the Blazer is the FEATHERS edition.
