A/C control repair
Can the vacuum part of the heater control valve on an A/C truck be repaired? I think I have a leak but wasn't sure if there were seals or orings that could be replaced. I know you can replace the levers and faceplate but I have never seen anything advertised for the vacuum part. Surely somebody out there has been into one of these and knows for sure.

I have just changed out the little vac. valve before. just a couple of small screws.

I dilled the rivet out on mine, greased the moving parts and installed a new rivet. Lot of work for a cheapie little part but thats just me.

Hey Walker, are there little seals or o-rings in there? I have never actually had one apart. Anybody out there have an old one that they can disect and take a picture of?

I think its official name is "Control head vacuum switch". Does anyone know if it is available through GM? Somebody has to be making them if they are still selling new complete control units, right?

I was mistaken the ones I have are not used, they are new and they are 15.00 plus shipping.

Can't remember for sure on that, seems to me the seal was felt and grease/parafin. I just regreased it and it was fine.

I have a couple of used ones also but they leak. They will not hold a vacuum as I would guess most used originals wouldn't. What bugs me is that you can buy the whole control assembly new with a new vacuum control switch but you never seem to see just the vacuum switch for sale. Obviously someone is making them, does anybody know who builds them for places like Chevy Duty and LMC? They will have them.
