gears

Hey guys i have an 88 2500 4x4 6 lug with the semi float 14 bolt i was wondering how i could tell what gears i have in the rear (and front) without having the glove box codes(damn things wore off) some one please help me thanx

Older guys will tell you to simply unbolt the rear diff cover and count the teeth on both parts. Then tell a gear shop the numbers and they will do the math. I think you divide the number from one by the number on the other.

Sometimes it is stamped on the axle somewhere. Other than that, take the cover off and count.
