Re: New rag joint
neither the size of the head of the bolt is so large that the side of the socket can't fit around it . it is stopped by the metal hump on the joint. Is there a special small head bolt required for this to work

Could you use your old bolt?

Re: New rag joint
Well...I dont know what to tell ya...if you still have the old rag you could compare the 2 for differences..
If you got it at a parts store I'd take it back...if you have some pics of it we may can see something that's off

Re: New rag joint
took my old rag joint and compared to the new one and yes the new one (made in china) is a little thicker around where the bolt goes. I have two well three choices find a bolt with a smaller head, Grind the joint for some clearance or throw it in the garbage.

Re: New rag joint
another update. Found a friend with a 91 Suburban that has the same rag joint. It does have a different size head bolt . It is a 5 or seven star looking head on it . I would call it a tork looking head. Anyone know where I can get one of these? thanks

Re: New rag joint
What about a socket head (allen head) bolt?

Re: New rag joint
I had similar issues with one I got. The bolt it came with wouldn't work right, so I ended up using my original bolt. It has something like a special/smaller head for what the bolt it, most likely for clearance reasons.

Junk yard. Any old rear drive GM car might have one.
