Who has Dakota Digital dash
Thinking about a set of Dakota Digital with an ls swap. Like to hear what you think and what accessories were used

Re: Who has Dakota Digital dash
I put DD dash in my 70GMC stepside with LS motor but went with carb and MSD box. I would do it again. I have the digital read out. Many don't like the numbers and would rather have the dial or analog look but that is your choice. I like the easy of set up with the box that you run all your senders to and a ribbon to the dash. Makes under the dash much cleaner. It is your truck so do what YOU want not what someone else likes or thinks. Best of luck

Re: Who has Dakota Digital dash
I couldn’t be happier with my VHX gauges. Very simple to install, and there are a ton of little features that I didn’t even know I wanted but now I’m glad they’re there. Things such as 0-60 times, engine warning lights, and trip meters come in real handy on an old truck. The only thing to be aware of is that some of the sensor wires are susceptible to RFI, so try to avoid running speedometer wiring and oil pressure wires alongside ignition control wiring. That’s the only hiccup I ran into and it was an easy fix. You won’t be disappointed.

Re: Who has Dakota Digital dash
I put the VHX in my 72 2500 with an LQ4 & 4L80e. Most of my gauges are ran off the PCM/ECM right now. I rigged up the stock Silverado take in my bed until I make a final decision on what tank I am going to run.
I bought the dimmer, which worked for a minute, but doesn't dim anymore. I'll have to look into it. I'd be happy to talk you through anything that I have done. Just shoot me an dm. |

Re: Who has Dakota Digital dash
I had been dreaming about the RTX gauges as I really liked the vintage look with the modern functionality. This past Christmas my wife told me to order them and I didn't hesitate, got them installed in early January and absolutely love them! Being able to cycle through the various readings and display them on the main screen is very handy, for instance, the fuel gauge is difficult to see behind the steering wheel but I can cycle through and see the reading on the main screen, very easy. All of the different color choices is great for a personalized touch. Also, it is nice to have a trip meter and a service count down, I also added the fan controller and the compass/outside temp. Eventually I plan to add cruise control and tire pressure monitor, just because. All in all I am very happy with this upgrade! My truck still looks vintage but seems more modern.
