Re: Oil bath air cleaner

Little bit of cleaning with solvent, shake it dry, refill with 50w and good to go. But yeh, papers easier.

Re: Oil bath air cleaner

I don't have a picture of it handy, but I have an off-set oil bath for an inliner w/ power brakes. I think I'm going to run it. As much as I drive, I'd only have to clean it once a year or less.

Re: Oil bath air cleaner

I have always been told that these oil bath filters were a whole lot better than paper.
I'm sure smog regulations was another reason they got rid of them.

I have a few of those myself. Those are much harder to find.

well lets have a picture of the offset ones. I am curious to see what they look like. love the old vintage pieces. they almost have character. everything new is plastic and boaring.

Re: Oil bath air cleaner

Ok, here's 2 I have. I know the second one is not an oil bath but the other might be, not sure. In any case, these are the offset type specifically used on 6 cylinder with power brake trucks.

The first one I got from a big 69 C30 truck. The second one was on a 69 C30as well but I'm not certain it's correct for that year. I occasionally get a third type which looks like the first one but is smaller. Confused yet? I am.

Re: Oil bath air cleaner

K and N filters are the same concept. Oil soaked fiber is going to trap more dirt than a dry piece of paper.
