Lightbulb Hey stake body guys, I need help!(Please)

I got a 9ft stake body off a buddy who took it off an old 1 ton Ford since he was putting on a dump box. Well, since my fleetside box is like swiss chese I decide I'd modify it and put it on my 71 C-20. Now I was measuring and started to scratch my head....................

I got 5" between the snubber and the axle............Well, it seems that the box would be awefully high if I mounted it with 5" of clearance between the top of the rear tires and the bottom on the bed. Does this sound familiar to you guys? I kinda want to get it as low as possible since it makes it easier to use and makes a nice work bench on the farm.

Also, could any of you post pictures of your stake body equiped trucks?

Thanks,
Tyler

Any other info you can give is also appreciated............

Don't forget,a regular bed sets between the tires and has inner fenders. You need the 5",if not more, above the tires with a flat bed so it isn't bottoming out everytime You hit a bump with a load on.

Thanks guys..............Got it on and anchored down in acouple spots today. I got away with alittle less since I cut it down some to get the cross sills out of the way so the tires could tuck up in. Have about 5" which should work ok.

I tell you what...........That 9ft bed is heavy Had my Farmall 504 with a loader and it strained lifting it

Hopefully the old chevy will take my abuse since I can really load it now!.............

Yup, I'll get them when I get my computer back from the "Garage" I am across the road at my grandparents borrowing their net

I got to put some more supports on it, but hopefully I can get it done soon. Total so far $70..........Maybe you guys will have an idea of how to get the kink out of the one corner. They dropped something heavy on it at the scrap yard before I got it and put a kink in it. I don't think I'll be able to get it out...........But for that price and its for farm use I don't really mind(I'll probably add to it ).

I had the Cat track-hoe before they hauled to to a job site and I couldn't even bend the thing straight with that

Finished up getting everything ready on it for inspection tomorrow.............I really like how it came out although I have to disassemble it for paint after the hay is off our farm farthest away from me.

Will have picture monday when I get my computer back
