60-66 Fleetside Heavy Steel Bumper's Overall Width?

I bought this sometime back. It's off a 67-72.
It's width isn't quite enough to extend past the bedsides like it does on a 60-66.
Could someone get me the overall width measurement of a 60-66 fleetside heavy steel bumper?
.
I guess I'd be interested to know if there were different widths between the wrap-around type and/or the one's that don't wrap-around.

Re: Barden Bumper's Overall Width?

That looks very similar to a dealership stamped bumper. Is there any stamping on it, say a dealership name, City, and State?

No stamping that I've noticed.

Re: Barden Bumper's Overall Width?

If you are asking about the specific "Barden" brand, then I can't answer your question. However, if you are asking about 1960-66 step bumpers in general, then I can tell you that I have one similar to yours with no wrap-around side extensions that is 75" wide OA. That's maybe 3/4" wider than the fender on each side at bumper level. Two others that I own have the wrap-around style extensions and are about 2" wider each side. Hope this helps.

See, now there's a little education for me. I don't know why I assumed the heavy steel step bumpers were a "Barden".
.
But your answer about the width does help.
I'll go measure mine and post back.
.
I'll see about renaming this thread and rephrasing my question.
Thanks.
.
I guess I wanted to know if the heavy steel step bumpers were typically wider on the 60-66 fleetside than the 67-72 fleetside.

Re: Barden Bumper's Overall Width?

The bumper I posted pictures of measures 74.5 inches. It was dealer installed on a 1968 C10.

Re: Barden Bumper's Overall Width?

The Barden brand set the standard at the time for the generic step bumper or "dock" bumper as they're sometimes called. There were lots of manufacturers making their versions, some nearly identical and some with significant differences.
Not so sure if this brand got well known due to quality, the number produced, or just marketing, but now the name Barden is to step bumpers, what Coke is too colas. Go ahead and call it a Barden, we know exactly what you mean.

Re: Barden Bumper's Overall Width?

I'll have to go measure the step bumper I have. There's no tags on it anywhere, but it sure does seem factory. The bolt holes line up nicely, but I think the brackets are bent a bit since it seems offset towards the passenger side

Re: Barden Bumper's Overall Width?

Something else I learned recently is Barden bumpers were made in Woodland California - my home town. And I've been keeping my eye out for one with the Barden Woodland California riveted tag on it.
