700R4 and Column Shift

I just had a 700R4 installed in my '75 C10. The truck is an original automatic TH350 with Column Shift.
Question is about getting all 4 Speeds and adjustments. When I went to pick up the truck the guy at the shop stated that they don't usually worry about 1st but then I need it so they readjusted. I have it but there is a detent or something similar when I put the column shift into Overdrive.
How have others dealt with this? can I remove something or add linkage or?
Thanks in advance!
Steve
