Grill Paint- Power steering problem
Need to paint the grill of my 87 1 ton, can anybody tell me the right paint color. The colors i've tried are too bright. Also have a small power steering leak that seems to be coming from a seam on the pump. None of the lines or hoses are leaking. Is this a problem with this pump? This is a 1 ton with hydra boost brakes.

Dale; I've got an '86 1 ton with the hydroboost. Make sure the leak is from the pump, I had a leak that I traced finally to the hydroboost unit. Went to the local GM dealer, got a rebuild kit, about $15-20, end of leak. If the leak is from the pump itself, try www.car-part.com , maybe a used pump will work if not I don't believe a new pump would be that expensive. Keep in mind that the power steering and brakes are interconnected. Just keep an eye on the fluid level in the ps res.
My GMC grille was silver. Try the color "argent silver", if too bright try "dark argent silver". I think these colors are avaliable in rattle cans at the local auto supply. That would be the least expensive. Good luck. Last edited by GMC1tondually4dr; 06-27-2004 at 10:25 AM. |
