In order to change the drivers door top hinge:

I must first remove the hood, cowl and drivers fender?
Is this correct?
Is there an easier way?

Not the end of the world, I just want to make sure, before I tear half my front end apart.

I'll be interested in this. I want to put the door stop gizmo in, and I'm hoping that I can do it without removing the door. Seems like similar territory.

Never changed a door hinge so I can't say..... But the door stop can be changed without removing any other parts.

I changed both hinges on the driver's side just by removing the door. You'll need one of those "tight space" wrenches... I forget what the name is for them but they are "S" shaped.... in order to reach some of the bolts. I removed mine because they were bent.

Re: In order to change the drivers door top hinge:

If the intent is to change out the hinge, wouldn't it be easiest to unbolt the hinge from the door both top and bottom, remove the door and then I would think you'd have fairly good access to the bolts that hold the hinge to the body, even with a regular socket. Although the S wrenches would come in play when adjusting the door fit. Harbor freight has a set of standard S wrench for $17. Probably not the best, but how often would you use them?

Re: In order to change the drivers door top hinge:

I need to replace my wore out sagging top hinge, and re-adjust my door gaps.
It seems like adjusting the door, with the fender in place, would be problematic?
Or would I be better off swapping the hinge, with the fender in place, and hoping for the best?

I guess, I could try to just swap the hinge, and just tear the front end apart, if the door doesn't line up.

I'm not looking for extra work, but if I'm going to go through the trouble, it would be nice for the gaps to line up.

Re: In order to change the drivers door top hinge:

It can be done with the fenders on the truck. You do need a set of S wrenches. It’s a little tedious to align the door with the fender on, but it can be done.
