1987 k30 motor swap wiring help needed
Bought the truck from the original owner, it was 6.2 cab chasis base model truck. 6.2 went bad and he swapped in an industrial 366, I scored it for cheap and am working on swapping a carb'd 427 in. Can't get it to turn over or get power to the starter or coil
Please read carefully, I'm trying to be as detailed as possible since this truck is pretty unique for 1987 The 366 started, ran and drove when i got it. When i pulled the motor I labeled a pink wire as the existing and future coil power (correct from what I read about swapping out 6.2s) I labeled a purple starter wire, that went to the small post next to the block New motor has new starter Headlights currently work, nothing in the cab chimes or makes noise when i turn the key Coil wire and starter wire show no power I have a red wire run from the junction post on the firewall to the battery another wire (orange on one end and red on the other) comes out of the junction and back into the fuse panel And then there is one cut red wire coming out of the fuse panel, when the 6.2 was swapped out many wires were cut. Truck has duel batteries, positive to positive, 3 wire alt, manual heater box, non vacuum, no wires on firewall side Both batteries ground to motor, frame, and cab So essentially I used the same wiring and something isn't working. Every diagram i have seen with labels on the wires doesn't seem to match what i have. Not sure if i need to hook up my extra red wire to the battery. Also not sure which wire is supposed to power the cab/fuse panel. Truck hasn't been sitting very long for this swap so I'm not sure what could have gone bad or if anything did.
