uncut doors on a Blazer?
Anybody do this? How did it work out? I'm curious if the effort is really worth it, especially for a Blazer that the top stays on. Post any pix, please!

Re: uncut doors on a Blazer?
I wouldn't think you could put uncut doors on a Blazer unless the top were off it. The door glass meets the top where the upper channel is on the truck doors.

Re: uncut doors on a Blazer?
I understand that. I was curious if anyone made their top accept an uncut door. Looks like it would be easy once all the gasket stuff is removed. I like the look of a cut-down door when the top is off, but there are a lot of advantages to an uncut door. Jeeps with the window frame still on don't look bad, so I was wondering how bad it would be for a Blazer. My top is too heavy to take off often and it rains too much here to keep it off for long, so the looks wouldn't be too much different on my truck with a full door.

Re: uncut doors on a Blazer?
I probably wouldn't do it myself, because I like having the top off. In fact, I've got a set of truck doors I need to cut down because my doors are pretty rusted. Still, I'm curious to see what you find out. It would probably cut down on leaks. I'm pretty sure the old Ramchargers were built that way.

Fewer leaks, more support for the window, easier replacement: that's why I'd want to do it.

Re: uncut doors on a Blazer?
I think you would have to cut deeper into the hard top than you think to accept an uncut door. When you do cut the top, you would likely be cutting away the area where the inner and outer skins are bonded together, leaving an open gap between the skins that would need to be closed, and taking away some of the rigidity/strength of the top. It sounds like more work than its worth, and it probably wouldn't reduce leakage by any amount because most of the leakage comes from where the top meets the windshield frame above the door opening.

Maybe. Probably. All I know is my seals are shot, and there's a lot of room where they go. Let's see if anybody else chimes in. I do have a passenger truck door I could fit to see... Not sure I want to put out the effort just to satisfy my curiosity though.

Re: uncut doors on a Blazer?
I was looking at doing the same thing! My doors leak bad. Having weatherstripping on the door and not the top should help. One reason I never did it is these tops are so valuable and rare. If I could get a spare top cheap then I would definitely give it a shot. Keep us posted on what you find.

Pickup doors don't have weatherstripping on them, it's on the cab.

Cut up a Suburban and make a 2 Door Tahoe.... then add a sliding rag top for that open air feel....

Re: uncut doors on a Blazer?
I have a single wall top. The weather stripping for the door glass goes on a channel. I removed that channel when I first put a truck door on, and it was not enough to shut the door. The vertical top edge of the door would need cut to clear. I decided if I was going to cut, might as well cut it all the way, so I removed the window frame like the Blazer is suppose to be

Re: uncut doors on a Blazer?
on Instagram .. @laidbackusa .. built a grey Blazer and it has full door frames. It looks like the top stays on. It is a road race style and I believe 2wd. It really looks nice with the full frames. JMI
