Steering Column Firewall Plate?
I recently bought a '63 C10 that has an aftermarket tilt steering wheel. The problem is its missing the plate that attaches to the firewall. Any suggestions where to find one? I've been looking everywhere.
(I also know I have to relocate the emergency brake cable, I just haven't yet.) Thanks! Last edited by mteribery; 08-30-2017 at 12:44 PM. |

Re: Steering Column Firewall Plate?
I thought that was a rubber gasket that fit there, no plate.

Re: Steering Column Firewall Plate?
I found a decent one several years back when a friend bought a cab for the dash. It wouldn't be too difficult to fabricate one. Here is mine for reference purposes.

Re: Steering Column Firewall Plate?
Is the plate that vin63 posted the right plate for that style hole?

Re: Steering Column Firewall Plate?
I'm not aware of another style plate for the 63-66. I believe the 60-62 were curved and oblong in shape.

Re: Steering Column Firewall Plate?
Ah, that pic makes more sense. Yep, should be fairly easy to fab.

[QUOTE=mteribery;8028913]That helps a ton! Looks like I need to purchase the seal as well, I just ordered the plate from Aspen Auto. Thanks!

Re: Steering Column Firewall Plate?
There is a similar diagram in my 1963 Chevy truck shop manual.
