Re: Who repairs original AM and AM/FM radios

Rickwood Radio Service in Birmingham Alabama is a factory GM service center. I talked to them several months ago and they still work on these old radios. 2 guys has been there since the 80s were trained by a couple older workers that worked on them. Told me if all they had to do was resolder the joints be $65.00 . But if parts were involved it would be more. The guy i talked to there seemed real helpful and answered all my questions. He said they still have some parts for these radios but not all. They also can do the RCA plus and thesmall 3.5 jacks for a small fee. I fotget how much he said tho. Good luck finding someone.

If you look around you may be able to find a good working stock radio for less than trying to get yours repaired. I know I have a working AM radio out of my 70 in a box somewhere.

I’ll put in a good word for these guys. I spent a little time on the phone asking questions and ended up buying a “special rectangle” speaker from them. My impression is they know a lot about original radios.
