Re: shifter indicator

This is a shift indicator from a '74, the metal tab attaches to the column with the screw. There should be a collar on the column that rotates with the shift handle- thats what this attaches to.

Re: shifter indicator

end of the cable with metal tab and screw . clips over the plastic body that moves with the shifter . the screw holds it in place on the early unis . in the 80's they quit doing the screw .

Re: shifter indicator

fwiw my 83 still had the screw. That said, the plastic where it attaches gets brittle and can break off, which it did on my 83. May have occured to your tilt column if there is no obvious slot for the clip & screw.

Re: shifter indicator

I assume the round plastic collar is where it attaches. My collar keeps coming loose when i move the shifter lever. is there suppose to be a slot in the collar. Mine has none.

Re: shifter indicator

some later model shift indicators just clip on the collar of the steering column. no screw needed. you adjust the indicator by where it clips to the collar.

Re: shifter indicator

If anyone needs one. It's not the correct lettering for 73-74, but is the same design.
