roll pan or bumper??
i LOVE that picture. I plan on using the same type tailgate band on my truck and keeping/replacing my chrome molding. do you guys think a bumper like that would look better than a rollpan? i'm starting to really like that bumper. and i'm not gonna have everything shaved. only thing that will be gone is my drip rails. the side mirrors i think i'm gonna replace with the little stock 2 hole mirrors. i was just thinking that the bumper would look real good since i'm keeping all the trim |

I like the tailgate pictured. Makes me think of doing the same. I like the chrome bumper too, but a roll pan would be OK as well, but I would prefer some chrome.

I say keep the bumper, but shave the bumper bolts.

What you need to consider is what direction you are heading with your truck. If you plan to keep the body mostly stock, chrome bumpers look good. If you plan to do a lot of smoothing to the body, then a roll pan adds to that effect.
Before I got carried away with my Blazer that is exactly the look I had planned..... |

I agree. If you already have a factory bumper, keep it. If you have a clunky aftermarket step bumper or no bumper, then a roll pan is OK. I prefer the look of teh factory bumper.

i agree, bumper with shaved bolts. i also agree on what way you are wanting to go, daves truck looks good with roll pans, a stock looking truck would look better with bumpers.

so, how much would it cost to have the holes welded and a bumper rechromed?

I just got a price to get my front bumper rechromed and that was $250. That should give you an idea, unless the guy was BSing.

rechroming is not cheap, I would leave it. It will still look good. But its not my pocketbook or truck.

The price of rechroming a bumper depends on the qaulity you are after. If you get it done at a bumper plater you can get it for 150-175. If you go to a specialty chrome shop the quality will be much btter, but the price will be much higher....

I have the suburban rear bumper on my truck and I think that they not only look great but also offer a little more protection that the roll pan would.

I plan on doing that on Yeller, until I can get them chromed. IMO, that will look better than all of the bolt heads sticking out. I am also going to tuck the bumpers too.
