I will assume you have a 1988 full size truck with TBI
Which seding unit are you refering to? The fuel tank sending unit has a wire for the gas gauge, a wire for the fuel pump, and a ground wire. The oil pressure sending unit has a wire for the oil gauge, a wire to the fuel pump, and a power supply wire. Trucks with TBI (throttle body Injection) have a relay that suplies power to the fuel pump for starting. When the truck starts the power for the fuel pump goes through the oil pressure sender. If this does not answer your question, reply with vehicle, engine, fuel system and which sender information. |

You should have a purple wire (most likely your red, pink ), which is for the gauge.
Tan with a white stripe was the power to the fuel pump. Black with white tracer on it, was the ground for the fuel pump. Hope this helps you |
