Sun Visor Mounting Bracket Hardware
Getting screws done for the Blazer /Jimmy sun visor mounting bracket to windshield frame and from sun visor mounting bracket to top. We want to make sure to get this right so looking for feedback
4- Sun visor Phillips Head Screws = 5/16-18 X ? with .50 diameter head So for above we need the measurement from top beveled edge of screw head to threaded end? Everyone posts the screw is 3/4" long, so what we need to know is the 3/4" everyone is referring to the threaded length? Because then actual screw length = 1", if the threaded length is 9/16" then the screws are 3/4" length. The manufacturers go from bevel edge to thread end and we suspect everyone is posting the threaded length. We also assume most would prefer the sin visor brackets to top screws be included in kit. Whats everyone's opinion on this or should it be in the top mounting kit we'll be putting together? Then we see a lot of posting about the sun visor bracket to top fastener being a hex bolt but our research shows it was a 2 1/2" long 5/16"-18 Phillips head machine screw. So can anyone else confirm this real world?? If so could you measure the head diameter so we get the correct width head? We will be doing all of these in stainless steel. We’ll also be putting together the removable top mounting kit and may need a little clarification on a few items in it which I’ll post separate about. Paul Jr @ GMCPauls |

Re: Sun Visor Mounting Bracket Hardware
I can get you measurements or send you a bolt and you can keep it as long as you need it.
Top to visor fastener, I believe is a hex bolt. I've parted about 15 blazers in the last 5 years and none have had Phillips head fasteners for that position. |

Re: Sun Visor Mounting Bracket Hardware
1rippen6 a measurement of threads and from top bevel edge to end of visor mounting screw would suffice. In regards to the bolt is it with or without flat washer and washer diameter and is it a SEMS captured washer bolt or a loose washer?
Your help is greatly appreciated in getting this correct. Between GM Master Parts manual, assembly manual and what we are seeing 1st hand and then reading owners posts on these we've been getting a lot of conflicting information. Thanks again for your help!! Paul Jr @ GMCPauls |

Re: Sun Visor Mounting Bracket Hardware
Visor to top bolt is 5/16 and standard lock washer. Everyone had Rockford embossed in the top.

Visor to windshield, if you need any other measurements let me know. They maybe a hair off from not taking them straight.

Re: Sun Visor Mounting Bracket Hardware
A board member found a company offering a stainless steel option that is close. I know they are cutting the head and polishing them so you maybe able to have them cut to a different dimension and possibly lenght.

Re: Sun Visor Mounting Bracket Hardware
Thanks, the stainless steel screws are already in production and will be here in a week or two. We appreciate the help. In regards to screw head diameter it's actually supposed to be .50" according to GM master parts catalog, the slight deviation you you are seeing with the micrometer is the fact they have a plus or minus tolerance in manufacturing of hardware.
Thanks again!! Paul Jr @ GMCPauls |

Re: Sun Visor Mounting Bracket Hardware
We have added the above screw set to our website. They currently include the 4 correct OE style bevel headed stainless steel machine screws for Blazer / Jimmy sun visor brackets with .50 head and 3/4" thread length ( 2 for each side ) and 2- correct OE style stainless steel pan head tapping screws for sun visor retainer hooks ( 1 for each side ) Does not currently include Blazer / Jimmy top mounting bolts and washers. We will be adding as a option that you can add to the kit Blazer / Jimmy top mounting bolts and washers once we have the exact OE versions which we are currently working on acquiring. After having these made here in the USA we are able to offer the kits for $6.00 We've added them to our Interior Page https://gmcpauls.com/Interior.htm and on our Interior Bolts & Misc. page https://gmcpauls.com/interior_bolts_&_misc__2.htm We are also working on several other OE fastener kits that are not currently available. Thanks for your help and feedback. Paul Jr @ GMCPauls |
