A/C Heater Valve Mounting Location?
I’m adding factory A/C to my truck and can’t figure where to mount the early style of valve. Is there some kind of bracket that mounts to the inner fender for the early style? This is the style that I’m using.
I’m wondering if it mounts on this clamp somehow? The clamp too small to fit the heater hose though.

Re: A/C Heater Valve Mounting Location?
I’ve found a few pictures of the newer style mounted to the inner fender but they have a bracket already attached to them so they’re easy to mount. The one I have doesn’t have a bracket and I searched all over the parts board going back several years and didn’t find a single bracket ever offered for sale.

jmader,
Do you have to stay Chevy stock? Will it be cable, vacuum, or electric controlled? I don't know much about the original GM heater control valves, but there are many aftermarket valves available that come with brackets OR I have used Pipe Clamps of various styles to fasten hoses to inner fenders/firewalls/under dash sheet metal/etc that could possibly work for you.

Re: A/C Heater Valve Mounting Location?
Stocker's picture shows the later style valve. I think that was used starting in 1970 or 1971.
The early style valve (yellow circle in the picture below) was not directly attached to the inner fender. There was what I'd call a band type bracket/clamp (red circle in the pic) that attached to the inner fender 2 or 3 inches toward the firewall from the valve. The clamp secured both heater hoses to the inner fender and, as a result, kept the valve from moving. Sorry about the pic. It's a maze of hoses there and this is the best shot I have on file. |

Here's a shot showing how the clamp is used that you asked about in your first post.

Re: A/C Heater Valve Mounting Location?
Firstowner69 is correct, I have a 70 and the valve is attached to the inner fender. I didn't know earlier models had it basically free floating. Either should work just fine.

Re: A/C Heater Valve Mounting Location?
For at least the 72 MY there are dimples in the RH inner fender that serve as a point of attachment for the valve in AC equipped trucks. Here's how the valve was affixed in my blue 72 Blazer (last pic shown in link): http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...5&postcount=56

Re: A/C Heater Valve Mounting Location?
This is what is used with the early style valve to attach the hoses to the inner fender.

Re: A/C Heater Valve Mounting Location?
That's what I have on my 69 truck. The hose clip holds the hoses and the vacuum line, and the heater valve just sits there on the fender at the end of the hose just like FirstOwner69 shows in the pre-restoration picture.

Re: A/C Heater Valve Mounting Location?
Thanks for all the info guys. I was hoping I could just let it kind of free float rather than have to track down a bracket. I have one of those that FirstOwner linked and that’s what I kind of was planning to use.

Re: A/C Heater Valve Mounting Location?
I know I'm a little late to this party, but thought I'd join in anyway. I'm now dealing with this same issue and found that RockAuto has 2 of these listed under the '71 year with a bracket that is already attached.
https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...8g4VuGgAWxZe1a Hope that link works... Just in case, I'll attach the picture I have of it.
