'67 power steering upgrade
On this '67 I just bought, I want to add power steering.
After much research, I have seen that the '67 frames did not have the dished area on the frame where the steering gear mounts. Obviously this one does (picture) which is probably a good thing... The numbers stamped on top of the frame rail near the gear do not match anything on the VIN number. Not that I'm overly concerned about it because I have a good clean title and where I live there is no "inspection" of a vehicle this old.... but am I to assume this is likely a later model frame? Or perhaps a very late production '67 that had a '68 style frame. Are there other identifying attributes that would identify it?

Re: '67 power steering upgrade
VIN number stamped on your frame should have a sequence like this:
7Z661642 The first digit before the letter is the year, in this example ‘7’ is 1967. 1972 could be different. Some others might chime in here who have seen more differences then I have. Steve weim55 Colorado |

Re: '67 power steering upgrade
So yes, your first digit ‘9’ Indicates your frame is of 1969 manufacture.

In the end it's not really gonna matter to me....but it will make adding a power steering gear a simple bolt on swap. I'll be sure to spec chassis parts for a '69 Thank you for helping me to clear it up.
