I was camping 2 1/2+ hours away from that lightning storm. I had gotten up at 3 am to get some water outside the tent. Clear starry sky, not a cloud in sight. All of the sudden the sky lit up and for a brief second you could see every campsite and the lake as if it was daytime. It was so far away that I didn't hear any thunder. Im my half awake state, it seemed as though it was a camera flash that went off. My next thought was that I was standing in full view of all of the other campsites in my boxers

From what I heard, that lightning storm was pretty impressive. Unfortunately it started a bunch of fires too.
