Talking finished my 6cyl to 8 cyl swap (pics)

Got my 350 engine put in the truck. Boy does it run good. I am really happy with the way it turned out. Now I just got to clean up the sheetmetal to make it look better. Just thought I'd share.

The block is a standard bore, Nothing special. the heads are 305 heads that I did a valve job on and new springs and such. With 305 heads on the 350 block I am running about 10&1/2 to 1 compression ratio. I did a compression test on it today. The tranny is a turbo 350. I'll probably put in a b&m shift improver kit in it as soon as I recover from the cost of putting in the engine. Thanks for the comments.

It looks great. Is that shroud from a 4x4? It looks deep in the pic, and with the long pump how far is the fan in the shroud?

Very nice job. I will be doing the same change over in the next couple months. That looks to be mounted in the I6 position , right? Was there anything extra you had to add besides the new X-member for the tranny?

Thanks for all the comments Guys.

robby: Actually the fan shroud is out of a big block truck. I need a longer shroud due to mounting it in the I6 position. The fan is in the shroud about 3 or 4 inches. It worked great.

dubie: Yes the engine is in the I6 position. I put it there so that I could use the same driveline. With the 350 turbo shorttail shaft I didn't have to have a new driveline made.Thats right all I neede was the transmission crossmember.

Frank_Zeller: The bottom holes lined up but the top didn't. I thought I'd drill those out when I put on my new cab.

I hope this helps, And again Thanks for the comments.

Jim
