Temperature Gauge Saga, Part Deux.
So after replacing everything that has to do with cooling (water pump Thermostat, Sending unit, Radiator was last year), and I’ve checked the running temps with my new digital thermometer (all we’re in the normal range), I’ve come to the conclusion that I need a new gauge.
It stands to reason that either the gauge is bad or the resistor is bad. I mean it’s 50 years old. As I think back on the progressively worse reading, I’m going to lean towards the resistor finally calling it quits. It comes down to it not putting enough resistance on the circuit for an accurate reading. I’ll update When I get it in. Last edited by custom10nut; 08-18-2020 at 09:07 PM. |

Re: Temperature Gauge Saga, Part Deux.
I went mechanical on both trucks. It's superior, and it's exact. And even with a dead battery, it will still read.

Re: Temperature Gauge Saga, Part Deux.
My temp gauge was all over the place a few years ago, and I realized that the thing wasn't actually running hot. I had a new mechanical gauge that I was going to use on my old Buick GS, but I sold that car before using the gauges. I put that gauge in, and it's fine.

Re: Temperature Gauge Saga, Part Deux.
Yeah, I ordered a new gauge.
I want to stay with the factory looks. Thanks for all the input though. |
