Nv4500 swap question
Assembling a 350 with a nv4500 for my 1980 GMC. Question, my current clutch rod goes into the drivers side. The nv4500 is on passenger side. How have you guys tackled this?

Re: Nv4500 swap question
New BH or a hydraulic clutch are possibilities.

Re: Nv4500 swap question
Yeah, you'll need to change bellhousing, or go to a hyd clutch...advanced adapters makes a bellhousing...
From experience...I would go with te hyd option

Re: Nv4500 swap question
you can redrill so your sm465 bellhousing fits the nv4500 as well.

Re: Nv4500 swap question
Since your bellhousing has the low passenger side slave cylinder, it means you have the 92-95 nv4500. This nv4500 has the same size bearing retainer as the sm465, so you can modify the transmission to fit the sm465 bellhousing. If you're willing to drill and tap the transmission, this will be your cheapest and best option.
There should be a link to how to do this in the linked facebook file. Look for a link from 4btwaps.com. https://www.facebook.com/notes/ls-sw...6984745739141/

Re: Nv4500 swap question
Thank you, sounds like a good route to me mainly because I'm cheap. Oh, and I have the parts. Guess I can sell the bh off the nv4500 when I'm done

Re: Nv4500 swap question
That 92-95 bellhousing is worth an easy $200 on Ebay, particularly if you can confirm that it doesn't have any cracks.

Re: Nv4500 swap question
I redrilled/modified the stock SM465 bellhousing when swapping a '94 NV4500 into my '83. I was able to retain all the stock clutch linkage with no problems at all. We're going to do this same mod to an '84 that we have too.
