Speedometer Cable "Bullet" O-Ring??? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I remember someone posted a while back, the part # for the the "bullet" that connects the Speedometer Cable to the transmission. I need that seal, because mine is leaking pretty bad. Thanks!

I bought a whole new bullet from a transmission supply store a year ago for $3.01. I feel that is better than getting a seal or an o-ring (seal on the inside, o-ring on the outside).

Also, Slonaker bought the better steel bullet, as opposed to the aluminum ones that are out there (mine was aluminum from the factory).

When the aluminum ones wear, the hole in the aluminum wears out along with the inside seal (that rides against the driven gear). This makes the bullet useless, as a new seal won't cure a leak.

With the steel bullets, you'll be able to replace that little seal inside and the O-ring outside a couple of times before the inner bore is worn excessively.
