A little more progess at body shop

Firewall may look butchered to some but looks fine to me and will be really pretty covered up when the heater stuff and brake stuff is installed. The 454 will now officially fit. Body guy still needs to paint the outside of both doors and the cowl. We are painfully close to it coming home but at his rate of speed lately, I'm not thinking it will be home too soon.

It was rainy when I took these pics that is why the door looks funny.

Well that certainly looks a lot better than when you cut the holes to make the engine fit. Hope the rest goes as well..

I can't believe I nominated that "hack"-storation for truck of the month - project category. OMG, what a mess.

J/K, Yukon, sometimes you have to use a BFH when a shoehorn won't cut it.

Hope to see it whole again soon.

You can cut with a shoehorn? Nice job. It'll be a sweet ride when it's done.

I know you had to cut the firewall to make the big block fit, but what are the 2 small holes and patchs with in that tunnel for?

English idiom "cut it" meaning "do the job, satisfy, work" :p

Chevytruckfan - do you mean the two areas I have circled? These are the areas that needed to be modified to allow the big block to fit.

You probably already told us, but one more time please...Why did you cut the firewall in two places? Is it for an off brand eng? Cad or...?

The 4wd's didn't come with a big block and my research told me a 2" body lift was sufficeint to give clearance for a big block. When the body shop went to put the body on there was major clearance problems on both sides of the engine. I really wasn't able to move the engine forward at the body shop very easily and some other factors were in play so I went ahead and cut the firewall for the necessary clearance.

It's coming together Yukon. But like always, at least for us the owners, it always seems to SLOW. It'll be worth it when you get her back homne and all buttoned up.
