Quick question ref: stuck bolts in trailing arms

Our 64 is down to a bare frame right now. My son and I decided to keep the stock trailing arms, which are in good shape. We are doing some upgrades from No Limit. The factory coil springs are stuck on the trailing arms, and I cannot get the bolts to let go. I can't find a good pic of the stock trailing arms to answer this question. Is there a welded nut or any other sort of threaded fastener on the spring side of the trailing arm? Or is it pretty much just a bolt through the arm, with a spring seat (or whatever it is called) that has the welded/threaded part? I'm trying to decide if I can get a cut off wheel between the top of the trailing arm and the spring. Cut the bolt, spring falls off, bolt falls out. Failing that, I'll go back to penetrating oil, heat, and cussing. My impact gun won't budge the thing, and my breaker bar/cheater bar combo didn't do anything either. Thanks!

It should be just a bolt with a nut that is welded to the spring seat

If you have Torch heat it up The bolt may be seized to the trailing arm not just the nut plate with rust

Soak them down with WD 40 or similar product and hit it with a 1/2 impact wrench. Sometimes the hammering of the impact will break them loose.

All I have is propane, which didn’t touch any of the rusted bolts on the Jeep that I used to have. I was looking yesterday, and my Lowe’s apparently had MAP torches in stock. I’m planning to run by and grab one this weekend. Heat it up, hit it with some WD40 specialist or PB Blaster and see what happens.

Mine on my 70 were stripped or rounded off . I cut the springs with a grinder with a cut off wheel and drilled out the bolts . My torch was empty .

Just put a cheater on it and snap the bolt, then drill it out, depending on what State, they usually break anyways.

Jackson's Dad, I have attached a picture. I cut my u bolt, and spring bolt, then used a punch to drive the rusted bolts out.

Frank, that’s exactly what I ended up doing with the u bolts. I think cutting the head off the bolt on the bottom side, then driving it out may be my easiest approach. As soon as I get done with the honey do list today, I’m heading to my shop to have a look.
